BO McCALEBB INJURED IN EUROPEAN LEAGUE ACTION

Bo McCalebb suffered an ankle injury Thursday evening in the second half of a European League tournament game.  At the time of his injury he was leading all scorers with 17 points.  Reports were that he was carried off the floor by his teammates.  The PG is still trying to get an update regarding his prognosis.  Hopefully is was a bad sprain - nothing broken.

As soon as some information comes our way, we will give you the scoop.  In the meantime, get ready for details of our 2nd Annual thepointguard.net Fantasy Basketball League, coming real soon.

THE PG ON BO McCALEBB, RAMON SESSIONS AND SMUSH PARKER

This audio for this video was excerpted from the 10/13/2012, Episode 38 broadcast of THE POINT GUARD Radio Program.  The PG reminds us about Bo McCalebb, "Europe's Best Point Guard" and alerts us of Ramon Session's prospects for starting at the point for the Charlotte Bobcats.  Finally, there is a mention of Smush Parker who, apparently, did not have the best relationship with Kobe Bryant.  The music is "Piano Beat" courtesy of GCP OnDaTrack (copyright 2012).

2013 NBA Draft: Top 10 Point Guard Prospects | NBADraft.net

The PG has begun his pre-season ranking of the top 20 NBA point guards.  Here is a collegiate Top Ten Ranking from NBADraft.net.  Haven't heard of any of these guys, yet.  But I'm sure that will change by mid-November.

This Ryan Harrow guy sounds intriguing.  Taking Marquis Teague's place at Kentucky will make him highly visible on national television.  Won't be surprised if he's a household name by mid-year.

THE PG ANNOUNCES FIRST PRE-SEASON RANKING OF THE TOP 20 NBA PGs

On Episode 31 of THE POINT GUARD Internet Radio Program, The PG announced his Pre-Season Rankings of the NBAs top 20 point guards.  He cautions that this is not the final pre-season listing; it will be amended as circumstances dictate up to the final THE POINT GUARD show before the start of the NBA season (to accommodate circumstances such as trades, injuries, etc.).  ThePG insists that this ranking is calculated more as a prediction of performance this coming season, rather than as an indication of past seasons' efforts.

Among the names on last year's Pre-Season list which do not appear on this summer's initial list are:  D-Rose, Devin Harris, Chauncey Billups, Jason Kidd, and Baron Davis.  With the exception of D-Rose, who is expected to miss most of the year after ACL surgery, these omissions do represent a true "changing of the (point) guard" on the NBA landscape.

1.   Chris Paul
1a  Deron Williams
3.   Rajon Rondo
4.   Russell Westbrook
5.   Steve Nash
6.   Tony Parker
7.   Kyrie Irving
8.   Brandon Jennings
9.   Damien Lilliard
10  Darren Collison
11  Jrue Holliday
12  Ty Lawson
13  Rick Rubio
14  George Hill
15  Goran Drajic
16  Kyle Lowry
17  Mike Conley
18  Stephen Curry
19  Jeremy Lin
20  Raymond Felton

This list will be amended on an on-going basis until the Saturday before the season begins.  Feel free to comment at any time.

THE POINT GUARD - Episode 30 by ThePG On Blog Talk Radio

Here is Episode 30 of THE POINT GUARD Internet Radio Program.  The show features ThePG and Speedy the Point Guard and airs every Saturday evening at 6:30 Eastern Time.

On this episode, The PG goes into a detailed examination of how the recent blockbuster trade sending Dwight Howard to the Lakers will cause ThePG to re-assess his earlier prediction that the D-Will/Joe Johnson backcourt will have more of an impact this coming season than the Nash/Kobe tandem.

TONY PARKER HIT BY GLASS IN CLUB FIGHT HAS "85% RECOVERY" BUT STILL PLAYING FOR FRANCE

The PG points your attention to Tom Withers' (of Associated Press) article appearing in YAHOO Sports, detailing TP's story of his recovery from the eye injury incurred as a bystander from a shattered bottle during a night club fight between Chris Brown and Drake crews.  Doctors told him the impact was micro-millimeters away from resulting in loss of an eye - which would have effectively ended his basketball career.

THE PG FINISHES THIRD IN INAUGURAL THEPOINTGUARD.NET FANTASY BASKETBALL LEAGUE

ThePointGuard.net Fantasy Basketball League on YAHOO just completed its inaugural season. SWISH DREAMS won a hard-fought battle (5-3-1) with SIN-X for the Championship which came down to the final day's competition.

ThePG started very poorly, but recovered to finish 4th out of 12 teams during the regular season and nearly upset the regular season champion in the playoff semi-finals (sinX edged out ThePG 5-4).  ThePG soundly thrashed BREAKING POINT 7-2 to salvage a face-saving third place finish.

ThePG and Speedy will discuss the results during the Saturday's weekly broadcast of "The Point Guard" internet radio program, 5:30 pm CST / 6:30pm EST on BlogTalkRadio.com. Of course, the primary topic of conversation will be assessments and predictions for the First Round NBA matchups. Feel free to tune in, call in, and join in the discussion.

As last year, ThePG will this playoff season, again monitor and comment on the playoff performances of the various PGs and the series matchups in these pages.  So check in regularly for his updates.

Congratulations to SWISH DREAMS and also to all participants in our 1st Annual ThePointGuard.net Fantasy Basketball League on YAHOO. See you next season. And until then...

The PG: "Paul Westphal Was Somethin' Else!"

Just a little retro piece from our YouTube Page.  The PG discusses the creative playing style of Paul Westphal, who was dismissed as coach of the Sacramento Kings earlier this season.   He was maybe a combo guard more than a pure PG, but he definitely had some game!

ALL RAMON SESSIONS, ALL THE TIME...

Ramon Sessions, a favorite here at The Point Guard, is featured in this article by Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports.  Apparently, Ramon loves L.A. and L.A. loves him.   And with good reason...  L.A. hasn't had a point guard with his skills since the dawn of the Millennium!

Sessions states that Kobe's first words to him were, "Let's win a ring."

Sounds like a plan...
